Hey College Republicans,
I have great news! This Wednesday at 3:30PM, Art Laffer, a world-famous economist who advised President Ronald Reagan, will be speaking in the UGA Chapel.
Dr. Laffer is considered by many to be the father of Reagan’s low tax, supply-side economic policies. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to hear one of the world’s most brilliant economic scholars!
There is no regular evening meeting scheduled for this Wednesday due to Valentine’s Day. This is the executive board’s way of showing that we love more than just politics.
This weekend, members of UGA CR will travel down to Milledgeville in order to attend a convention hosted by the Georgia Association of College Republicans (or GACR).
A small group of CRs will leave on Friday in order to attend the GACR banquet, which will feature journalist, author, and Fox News commentator Phil Kent. If you would like more information about the banquet or would like to attend (it costs $30), please inform ED Matt Suber. He can be reached at suber@uga.edu.
On Saturday, the rest of UGA CR delegation to the GACR convention will depart Athens. If you would like to honor UGA CR and serve as a delegate to the state convention, please shoot an e-mail to Team Leader Director Chris Liakos ( chris_liakos@yahoo.com). (There should be an underscore in between "chris" and "liakos")
UGA CR is providing a carpool to the convention. If you would like to join the carpool, show up at the Tate Center at 7:30AM on Saturday. Otherwise, make sure you are at the convention by 10AM.
The convention, which will be held in the old state capitol building, is free and should be a lot of fun. Republican Secretary of State Karen Handel will be the guest of honor.
To conclude this long e-mail, I would like to encourage you to apply for a position on the GACR Executive Board. In case you are not familiar with the organization, GACR is the state CR federation. If you would like to learn more about these positions, please let me know. My e-mail, of course, is dballard@uga.edu.
Sincerely,
David Ballard
UGA CR Chairman
