Internship Information

Fall 2009

Members of the UGA College Republicans have served internships in the United States Senate, the United States House of Representatives, the Governor’s Internship Program, the Georgia Republican Party, the Georgia State Senate, the Georgia House of Representatives, the Georgia Secretary of State’s office, as well as in numerous federal, state, and local campaigns. These internships have enriched students’ academic careers by giving them real world political experience.

Here is a brief overview of some of the internship opportunities available with Georgia’s elected officials for 2010.

*Some offices have not specified Winter/ Spring 2010 or Summer 2010 deadlines yet, but their 2009 deadlines are given as a date of reference.

Applications

  • Each office has a unique application process which includes the application form along with a transcript, writing sample, two recommendations, and a resume.
  • The UGA Career Center offers students help with resumes. It is located in Clark Howell Hall with walk-in hours Monday - Friday 11 AM - 1PM.

Washington, D.C. Internships

  • Almost all internships are unpaid.
  • Interns are responsible for covering travel and living expenses while serving an internship in D.C.
  • Interns are responsible for arranging housing in DC (local universities have programs for interns to rent dorm rooms for the duration of their internships).
