State Representative Martin Scott (R-Rossville) will discuss his decision to sponsor HR 536, a proposed amendment to the Georgia Constitution that would essentially ban abortion in the state.

Many pundits believe that Mr. Scott’s amendment is designed to set up a challenge to Roe v. Wade.

After giving an overview of his proposal, Rep. Scott will answer questions from the audience.

Mock General Assembly

Our next meeting, Wedndesday 26th, will be in the fashion of a mock GA General Assembly. We will have several pieces of "legislation" to pass or fail. Senator Bill Cowsert will be our presiding officer for the evening This is always a favorite event and we encourage y’all to come out and pass some bills, see the legislative process, and meet Senator Cowsert! A great time for sure.

As many of you may know, Governor Perdue has recently proposed State Resolution (SR) 655, an amendment to the state’s budget and lottery bill for this year which would fulfill former Governor Zell Miller’s original vision of the Georgia Lottery guaranteeing that all proceeds from lottery purchases would be committed solely to funding the HOPE scholarship and pre-K programs.  SR 655 was struck down in a party-line vote in the state assembly as Democrats fought not only to give Governor [...]
