UGA College Republicans visit the Capitol
This morning members of the chapter traveled to the US Captiol to visit our elected officials. We started the visit by meeting with Congressman Tom Price(GA-12). Congressman Price is the Chairman of the Republican Study Committee and was interested to hear what other UGA students thought about the stimulus package. When asked about the future of the Republican Party Congressman Price was optimistic about our chances for 2010 and 2012. As a young conservative, I am excited that we have strong leaders who value the input of younger generations. Congressman Price is a speaker this afternoon and we are excited to have him address conservatives from around the country.
We visited Congressman Paul Broun’s office, but were unable to meet with him due to votes in the House.
Next, we went over to the Russell Office Building on the Senate side and stopped by Senator Isakson’s Office. We were quite surprised when we were informed that Senator Isakson had a few minutes of time to meet with us. We discussed healthcare policy, the Stimulus bill and President Obama. He also talked about the importance of improving Republicans presence on the internet. I felt he understood the importance of using technology to reach out to the college age generation. After a full morning on the Hill we are heading back to the Omni to hear Mike Huckabee, Congressman Tom Price and other well known conservative leaders.
