U.S. SENATOR TO VISIT UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA

The Honorable Johnny Isakson Will Address a Joint Meeting of the UGA College Republicans and the Dawgs for Israel

(ATHENS, GA) – On Saturday, April 21, U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson will meet with University of Georgia students in order to discuss the importance of the U.S.- Israel alliance.  Mr. Isakson will make his remarks before a joint meeting of the UGA College Republicans and the Dawgs for Israel.

Senator Isakson, an alumnus of the University of Georgia, has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in public service. Mr. Isakson served 17 years in the Georgia General Assembly and 3 years as Chairman of the Georgia Board of Education. In 1999, Mr. Isakson was elected to the United States House of Representatives for his first of three terms before being elected to the United States Senate in November of 2004.

Since his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004, Senator Isakson has become a leader a number of foreign and domestic issues. He has proven to be an especially articulate advocate of the need for the United States to maintain a close-relationship with Israel.

This event is a demonstration of the growing friendship between Dawgs for Israel and the UGA College Republicans. Dawgs for Israel is a student-led advocacy group that works to educate University of Georgia students about the importance of America’s alliance with Israel. The University of Georgia chapter of College Republicans is widely-recognized as being one the largest student-political organizations in the United States.

UGA College Republican Chairman David Ballard said that the Dawgs for Israel deserve credit for bringing Senator Isakson. "I am very grateful to (newly-elected DFI President) Hadas Peles and outgoing President Amy Berelowitz for their efforts to secure this high-caliber speaker."

This exciting event, which will occur just hours after the Northeast Georgia GOP District Convention, is taking place in Student Learning Center room 101 at 2PM. The Student Learning Center is located at the intersection of Baxter and Lumpkin Streets.  The meeting is open to the general public.
