Welcome back everyone! We have plenty of exciting meetings and events planned for this semester and tons of ways to get involved! A post will be made later this week to detail some of these activities, but for now, know that our meetings will be EVERY Wednesday at 7 P.M. in SLC 214.
Be sure to make it out to the UGA College Republican's last event of the Spring Semester. See below for more information
Come join the College Republicans this Wednesday (4/9) as we face off against the Young Democrats in an informal debate! In this setting, every member will have a chance to defend conservatism as we discuss issues throughout the night. Topics will include healthcare, immigration, economy, and more!

This week we have a great meeting planned! Come to learn how to get involved with efforts at the University of Georgia to ensure that John McCain is the next President of the United States. At this meeting, we will discuss his current platform, watch speeches and news clips, and brainstorm ways to show support - overall becoming familiar with our candidate and discovering what we can do to help!
We will have information on getting involved, sign up sheets for committees, discuss plans for the upcoming semesters, and learn more about Senator McCain and his policy views. Our meeting will be at 7 p.m. this Wednesday (April 2nd) in Caldwell 304.
This Wednesday, it is my pleasure to announce to Congressman Tom Price will deliver a Congressional Update at our College Republican meeting. Our meeting will be at 7 p.m. in Caldwell 304.
A little about Congressman Price:
Elected to Congress, representing the Sixth District of Georgia, in November 2004, Price was re-elected with broad support in both primary and general elections in 2006. Prior to going to Washington, Price served four terms in the Georgia State Senate – two as Minority Whip. In 2002, he became the first Republican Majority Leader in the history of Georgia. This year he was promoted to Deputy Whip, part of the Republican Leadership Team. In Congress, Price's priorities are reforming the tax system, strengthening health care and education, bringing common sense to the litigation system, and finding transportation solutions for Atlanta's residents and commuters. Congressman Price serves on the Committee on Education and Labor, as well as the Committee on Financial Services in which he is the Deputy Ranking Member on the Financial Institutions Subcommittee.
This Wednesday, we will host a Political Career Panel to explore the job possibilities in politics. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in Caldwell 304.

"Islam, unlike Christianity, is an all-encompassing ideology," said Santorum. "It is not just something you do on Sunday… We (as Americans) don't get that."
Rick Santorum, a Senior Fellow of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, established and directs EPPC's Program to Protect America's Freedom. He is writing a book on the "gathering storm" of the 21st century -- the challenges posed by radical Islamic fascism and its growing alliances around the world.
Mr. Santorum served as United States Senator from Pennsylvania from 1995 to 2007 and as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1991 to 1995. As a United States Senator, he was a champion of efforts to counter the threat of radical Islam, to protect victims of religious persecution, and to promote democracy and religious liberty around the world.
This Wednesday, come and join us for a night of trivia and of making Valentine's Day cards to deliver to veterans of Atlanta. As always, our meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in Caldwell 304. Trivia night is always a great meeting to come out and get to know fellow CR's while also competing for the great prizes available!
Also, UGA College Republicans member Chris Chiego is running for SPIA's SGA Senate seat and Connor McCarthy for SGA President, and both need your help. Let Chris know if you have any questions about the issues or how to help out (cchiego@gmail.com) or check out his platform at (http://ugaofficeparty.com/senators/spia/chris-chiego/). Contact Connor at connorm@uga.edu if you would like to help out with his campaign. Both Chris and Connor are running with the Office Party, and remember to vote on OASIS beginning Monday!
Because many members will be traveling to CPAC the night of February 6th, we will NOT be having a chapter meeting that night. Instead, we will resume our regular meeting schedule on February 13th.
Representatives from the Log Cabin Republicans, Republicans for Environmental Protection, and Federation of Republican Women will speak and answer questions about their views and how they may differ from the GOP national platform.
This Wednesday, January 23, we have a great meeting planned - a Mock General Assembly! Brian Kemp, a previous Republican State Senator, will be our Mock Speaker as we bring forth HB 89 on Firearms and House LC 18 on the GREAT Plan. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in Caldwell 304.
The first meeting of the semester is planned for Wednesday, January 16. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in Caldwell 304 (please note the room change from last semester). Gary Black, a conservative expert in the field of agriculture who ran for Agricultural Commissioner in 2006, will speak to us about the possibilities of fuel innovation.
The College Republicans and the Roosevelt Insitute are pleased to announce that Dr. Mike Adams, a long time advocate for academic freedom, will be debating Dr. Charles Bittner of The Nation this Thursday at 6:30PM in SLC 248.
Mike S. Adams was born in Columbus, Mississippi on October 30, 1964. While a student at Clear Lake High School in Houston, TX, his team won the state 5A soccer championship. He graduated from C.L.H.S. in 1983 with a 1.8 GPA. He was ranked 734 among a class of 740, largely as a result of flunking English all four years of high school. After obtaining an Associate’s degree in psychology from San Jacinto College, he moved on to Mississippi State University where he joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity. While living in the fraternity house, his GPA rose to 3.4, allowing him to finish his B.A., and then to pursue a Master’s in Psychology. In 1990, he turned down a chance to pursue a PhD in psychology from the University of Georgia, opting instead to remain at Mississippi State to study Sociology/Criminology. This decision was made entirely on the basis of his reluctance to quit his night job as member of a musical duo. Playing music in bars and at fraternity parties and weddings financed his education. He also played for free beer.
Upon getting his doctorate in 1993, Adams, then an atheist and a Democrat, was hired by UNC-Wilmington to teach in the criminal justice program. A few years later, Adams abandoned his atheism and also became a Republican. He also nearly abandoned teaching when he took a one-year leave of absence to study law at UNC-Chapel Hill in 1998. After returning to teach at UNC-Wilmington, Adams won the Faculty Member of the Year award (issued by the Office of the Dean of Students) for the second time in 2000.
After his involvement in a well publicized free speech controversy in the wake of the 911 terror attacks, Adams became a vocal critic of the diversity movement in academia. After making appearances on shows like Hannity and Colmes, the O’Reilly Factor, and Scarborough Country, Adams was asked to write a column for Townhall.com.
Today he enjoys the privilege of expressing himself both as a teacher and a writer. He is also an avid hunter and reader of classic literature. He published his first book, Welcome to the Ivory Tower of Babel, in 2004. His second book, Feminists Say the Darnedest Things, will be published in 2008.
Dr. Charles Bitter will represent the "progressive publication," The Nation in the debate.
The UGA College Republicans will have the honor of hosting US Congressman Paul Broun, Jr. (R-Athens) this Wednesday at 7PM in Tate 141.
Congressman Broun will discuss a variety of hot political topics. After Dr. Broun concludes his remarks, he will respond to questions from the audience.
Come to the Tate Center this Wednesday and meet YOUR represenative in Washington!
Should the Republican Party incorporate the FairTax into its offical 2008 platform?
Is the United States winning the War on Terror?
What does the future hold for the U.S. Supreme Court?
This Wednesday, join the UGA College Republicans as we seek to answer these and other questions during our first UGA CR Policy Symposium of the 2007-2008 school year!
The symposium will feature an interactive panel discussion with a group of distinguished expert speakers. The primary purpose of this event is to provide our chapter with an opportunity to have a deep and probing discussion about a handful of key issues. This particular symposium will focus on legal issues, the War on Terror, and the FairTax.
Confirmed panelists include:
The Honorable Scott Ballard, District Attorney of the Griffin Judicial Circuit (R). DA Ballard, the top prosecutor for Fayette, Spalding, Pike, and Upson Counties, was first elected in 2004. Since taking over the DA post, Mr. Ballard has been involved in a number of famous cases, including the bizarre and tragic Chris Benoit murder-suicide and the PacMan Jones case. One of the most high-profile DAs in Georgia, Mr. Ballard has been a guest on Good Morning America, the Big Story with John Gibson, On the Record (FNC), Larry King Live, Glenn Beck, and many other programs. He has also been interviewed by every major news publication in America and numeous overseas papers. Mr. Ballard's pro-active anti-crime measures are beginning to catch fire across the state.
Special Operations veteran/ embedded reporter/ columnist Jeff Emanuel. Jeff Emanuel, who has seen combat in both Iraq and Afghanistan, has just returned from Iraq after covering "the surge" as an embedded reporter. Jeff, a graduate of UGA, blogs for both Peach Pundit and Redstate.com. He has also had columns appear on/in Townhall.com, the Washington Times, the AJC, the Athens Banner Herald, the National Review, and the Weekly Standard.
Angela Bean, the head of Georgians for FairTaxation. Ms. Bean is expert on tax policy and a long time advocate for John Linder's FairTax. Ms. Bean will explain the FairTax and its political implications.
In addition to discussing policy solutions to some of America's most vexing problems, it is my hope that we can also gain a greater appreciation for how the Republican Party could incorporate these solutions into a new "Contract with America"
During our regular Wednesday meeting, which will take place in SLC 214 at 7PM, we will be hosting an intense, open-forum style debate regarding the 2008 elections! We will discuss the Republican presidential candidates and the 2008 GOP platform. This event will also provide you with an opportunity to voice your opinion about some of the key issues facing our state and nation!
This event is part of UGA CR's Start Your November the Right Way campaign.
On October 31st, the College Republicans will host a Support the Troops workshop and Halloween Party. There will so much to do! We have a ton of supplies that need to be packaged up and sent to our troops in Iraq. We'll be writing thank you cards and letters for them. Additionally, we'll have some entertainment via music or a movie. There will be food and candy!
This will be a great time to do something proactive for our brave men and women abroad and have a good time doing it!
We hope y'all make it out; it'll be a great time!
A UGA CR Special Event!
State Representative Martin Scott (R-Rossville) will discuss his decision to sponsor HR 536, a proposed amendment to the Georgia Constitution that would essentially ban abortion in the state.
Many pundits believe that Mr. Scott's amendment is designed to set up a challenge to Roe v. Wade.
After giving an overview of his proposal, Rep. Scott will answer questions from the audience.
Come to the Tate Center on Monday and hear more about what promises to be one of the most controversial pieces of legislation to be taken up by the General Assembly in 2008!
Last week, UGA CR heard from Major General Rick Goddard, an impressive candidate running in one of the hottest Congressional races in the country!
This week we will learn how to send men like General Goddard to Washington.
The state Republican Party has granted the UGA College Republicans the honor of serving as the host of its Northeast Georgia Grassroots Training Session. We, along with members of the surrounding county GOP groups, will gather in SLC 101 at 7PM this Wednesday to hear experts from Sue Everhart's staff discuss the tactics and strategies the GOP will employ in 2008. If you have any interest in working on (or running) a campaign in 2008, this is a meeting you do not want to miss!
This week UGA CR has the honor of hosting Retired Air Force Major General Rick Goddard, the Republican candidate seeking to replace Democrat Jim Marshall as the representative for Georgia's 8th Congressional District.
The Washington Post recently reported that General Goddard is the "crown jewel" of the Republican Party's candidates for Congress in 2008.
National pundits have declared the battle between Goddard and Marshall to be one of the hottest Congressional races in the country!
Join UGA CR this Wednesday as we meet the man who represents the "tip of the spear" of the GOP efforts to recapture the U.S. House of Represenatives !
During the "Battle for the Soul of Conservatism", the UGA College Republicans discussed the need to purge corruption from the ranks of the GOP.
On October 3rd at 7PM, we will focus on corruption on the other side of the aisle. Dr. Deborah Honeycutt will discuss her campaign to oust Democratic Congressman David Scott (GA-13), who was recently named one of the most corrupt congressmen in America.
Dr. Honeycutt will also make the case that African Americans should back the GOP in 2008.
Our next meeting, Wedndesday 26th, will be in the fashion of a mock GA General Assembly. We will have several pieces of "legislation" to pass or fail. Senator Bill Cowsert will be our presiding officer for the evening This is always a favorite event and we encourage y'all to come out and pass some bills, see the legislative process, and meet Senator Cowsert! A great time for sure.
Phil Kent, an author, journalist, media consultant, and Fox News commentator will speak about his newest book: Foundations of Betrayal; How the Liberal Super-Rich Undermine America. Phil will be signing books afterwards. Yet again, this will surely be a meeting that you DO NOT want to miss! See you Wendesday the 19th at 7pm in SLC 214!
This week's meeting will be an exciting intra-party debate focusing on the future of the GOP. We will be opening the floor for debate on key controversial issues that will define the Republican Party in the future. This will be a meeting you don't want to miss. This Wednesday, the 12th at 7PM in SLC 214.
Think you know a lot about politics? Prove it!
Join UGA CR this Wednesday (9/5) as we play Republican Trivia!
The meeting will take place in SLC 214 at 7PM. Snacks will be provided!
Last Wednesday the first meeting of the semester for the University of Georgia College Republicans drew a standing-room only crowd and a variety of distinguished guests from Georgia politics including U.S. Congressional Representative Paul Broun along with State Senator Bill Cowsert. Sue Everhart, the GOP State Chairman, gave a sincere and thoughtful address to the group, encouraging students to take an active interest in politics and fight for what they believe in. The meeting concluded as attendees rushed to sign up for committees and team leadership positions, welcoming the chance to help make a difference in local, state, and national politics.
Our next meeting features what will certainly be a rousing night of political trivia; come out and enjoy the company and competition.
Another Fall at the University of Georgia is here and with it comes new classes, Football games, cool weather, but most importantly: NEW STUDENTS!
We want to welcome each freshman to campus and extend an open invitation to come check out the UGA College Republicans.
We'll be out and about campus, so be sure to come over and speak or ask questions about UGA CRs. We'd love to have you join the club and come to our awesome meetings.
In fact, to kick the semester off, Sue Everhart will be speaking at our first meeting. Sue is the new chairman of the GA Republican Party and a GREAT person to kick-off our new semester.
Please check back here for constant updates to the calendar and other information.
Lastly, please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have!
Welcome to Georgia and GO DAWGS!

U.S. SENATOR TO VISIT UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA
The Honorable Johnny Isakson Will Address a Joint Meeting of the UGA College Republicans and the Dawgs for Israel
(ATHENS, GA) – On Saturday, April 21, U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson will meet with University of Georgia students in order to discuss the importance of the U.S.- Israel alliance. Mr. Isakson will make his remarks before a joint meeting of the UGA College Republicans and the Dawgs for Israel.
Senator Isakson, an alumnus of the University of Georgia, has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in public service. Mr. Isakson served 17 years in the Georgia General Assembly and 3 years as Chairman of the Georgia Board of Education. In 1999, Mr. Isakson was elected to the United States House of Representatives for his first of three terms before being elected to the United States Senate in November of 2004.
Since his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004, Senator Isakson has become a leader a number of foreign and domestic issues. He has proven to be an especially articulate advocate of the need for the United States to maintain a close-relationship with Israel.
This event is a demonstration of the growing friendship between Dawgs for Israel and the UGA College Republicans. Dawgs for Israel is a student-led advocacy group that works to educate University of Georgia students about the importance of America's alliance with Israel. The University of Georgia chapter of College Republicans is widely-recognized as being one the largest student-political organizations in the United States.
UGA College Republican Chairman David Ballard said that the Dawgs for Israel deserve credit for bringing Senator Isakson. "I am very grateful to (newly-elected DFI President) Hadas Peles and outgoing President Amy Berelowitz for their efforts to secure this high-caliber speaker."
This exciting event, which will occur just hours after the Northeast Georgia GOP District Convention, is taking place in Student Learning Center room 101 at 2PM. The Student Learning Center is located at the intersection of Baxter and Lumpkin Streets. The meeting is open to the general public.

MONDAY, APRIL 16
SLC 147, 7PM
Fox News analyst and political strategist Angela McGlowan will discuss her newly-released book entitled, Bamboozled: How Americans are Exploited by the Liberal Agenda.
In the words of Ms. McGlowan, “Bamboozled pulls back the curtain to reveal the fallacies and falsehoods that support the Liberal agenda.” This book is based on a mountain of research and personal interviews with top leaders and political insiders. The final analysis dismantles Democrat deceptions and exposes Liberal lies including:
• How the Democratic Party erased its racist past and created an illusion of inclusion on Civil Rights
• The scheme Liberals ran to con minorities into loyally supporting a political party that despises their most deeply felt values
• Why what’s bad for families is great for Liberals
• How Liberals’ love affair with criminal leniency destroys the very communities that Liberals claim to protect
• How liberal economic policies bankrupt blacks, loot Latinos, and wreck women’s wallets, unveiling the Left’s racist past and exploitative present. Bamboozled will lead minorities back to party that has always been loyal to them.
Join us this MONDAY at 7PM as we hear from one of the rising stars in the conservative movement.
THIS WEDNESDAY, UGA CR WILL HEAR FROM STATE SENATOR AND CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE JIM WHITEHEAD. SEN WHITEHEAD IS WIDELY CONSIDERED THE FRONTRUNNER IN THE RACE TO REPLACE THE LATE CHARLIE NORWOOD AS CONGRESSMAN FOR THE 10TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT.
THE MEETING WILL TAKE PLACE IN SLC 214, 7PM
SECOND ANNUAL REPUBLICAN RUMBLE INTRA-PARTY DEBATE:
IS PRESIDENT BUSH'S IMMIGRATION PLAN GOOD FOR AMERICA?
DEMOSTHENIAN HALL, 7PM
Dear College Republicans,
1) Are you ready to RUMBLE?!!
I, for the past few months, have had several members of UGA CR ask if we could devote one meeting to discuss immigration reform, an issue that is extremely controversial within the Republican Party. My friends, know that your pleas have not fallen on deaf ears!
This Wednesday, UGA CR will host the Second Annual Republican Rumble Intra-Party Debate in Demosthenian Hall at 7PM. For those of you not familiar with Demosthenian Hall, it is the yellow building next to the Chapel on North Campus.
Unlike the last Republican Rumble, this debate will use a format designed to prompt audience participation. Exec Director Matt Suber will be serving as the moderator.
2) CSPAN airing last week's meeting
As of now, my understanding is that CSPAN will air its coverage of Wynton Hall's speech sometime this Sunday. I will pass along more details as they become available.
3) Kudos for month of March
Before I sign off, let me take a moment to thank a few members of UGA CR for all their hard work last month.
UGA CR member Gary Baker did our chapter an enormous service by helping us bring renowned political author Wynton Hall to the UGA. Thanks to Gary, CSPAN agreed to cover the event. This marked this first time since 2003 that our chapter has been covered by a national media outlet.
Rory Weeks and Jean Bitz, who serve as Political Director and Membership Director respectively, did a terrific job organizing the CR blood drive in March.
Also, UGA CR has Kristin Bernhard and Christie H to thank for the wonderful display case in Tate. To adequately thank these two individuals for everything they did this past month would require more words than a short Dickens novel; I will simply say that these two women have proven to be an indispensable part of the UGA College Republican family.
Executive Director Matt Suber has poured at least 40 hours a week into working for our chapter this semester; I can honestly say that without Matt, UGA CR would be a much weaker organization. If you run into Matt on campus, be sure to thank him for everything he did to organize the Wynton Hall and radical Islam events.
Brittany Ross, your Treasurer, has more than filled the very big shoes left by her predecessor, Preston Mintz. Her amazing organizational and financial skills have greatly aided our fundraising efforts this spring.
Lastly, I should thank Chris Liakos and Cole Gardner for always being willing to do mundane tasks that are neither glamorous or fun.
See you this Wednesday!
-David

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear College Republicans,
Thought the campaign season was behind us? Think again!
As most of you probably know, the Honorable U.S. Represenative Charlie Norwood (R-GA 10) recently lost his battle with cancer. In order to replace Mr. Norwood, Governor Sonny Perdue has called for a special election that will take place on June 19.
Despite the fact that GA-10 is a Republican district on paper, the Democrats have an opportunity to pick up the open seat. Many pundits believe that the confusing nature of the special election process may allow the Dems to capture Norwood's seat and pad their majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.
We cannot allow this to happen! Recognizing our status as one of the largest (if not the largest) grassroots organizations in the district, leaders in the local and state GOP have asked our CR chapter to make significant contributions to Republican efforts to retain this critical seat. UGA CR will answer their call to action.
This Wednesday at 7PM, we will gather in Sanford Hall (Room 309) in order to discuss UGA CR's role in the upcoming election. In addition to debating the merits of the different candidates, we will also discuss different campaign strategies.
I hope to see you this Wednesday! Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to get on the ground floor of a campaign for U.S. Congress!
Sincerely,
David Ballard

There is no regular evening meeting scheduled for this Wednesday due to Valentine's Day. This is the executive board's way of showing that we love more than just politics.
This weekend, members of UGA CR will travel down to Milledgeville in order to attend a convention hosted by the Georgia Association of College Republicans (or GACR).
A small group of CRs will leave on Friday in order to attend the GACR banquet, which will feature journalist, author, and Fox News commentator Phil Kent. If you would like to honor UGA CR and serve as a delegate to the state convention, please shoot an e-mail to Team Leader Director Chris Liakos ( chris_liakos@yahoo.com). Legal Issues Forum
Time and Date: This Wednesday (January 31) at 7PM
Location: SLC 214
Featuring: Expert legal panel discussing eminent domain, the death penalty, civil liberities v. the demands of national security, and judicial activism.
With all the political battles currently being fought in Congress and the General Assembly, it is easy to forget about the important questions being discussed in courthouses across our state and nation. It is important for us to remember that the judical branch of our government has an enormous amount of power and influence over our everyday lives.
This Wednesday, UGA CR will gather in SLC 214 to debate some of the hottest legal issues of our time. During the course of this event, we will discuss eminent domain, the death penalty, civil liberites (within the context of the war on terrorism), and judicial activism.
To help guide the discussion, we will be joined by an expert legal panel, including distinguished Atlanta attorney (and former UGA CR Chairman) Ryan VanMeter and Griffin Judicial Circuit (Fayette, Spalding, Pike, and Upson Counties) DA Scott Ballard. I am also working on confirming two other high-profile panelists.
After members of our expert panel provide commentary on each of the topics, you will have the opportunity to debate and discuss the issue during an intense 10 minute crossfire.
This is going to be an awesome meeting! You don't want to miss it!

Think you know a lot about politics? Prove it! Come to the UGA CR meeting this Wednesday and play a new and improved version of Republican Trivia! This is an awesome opportunity to hang out with your fellow College Republicans, earn some bragging rights, and pick up some prizes.
QUICK READ
Event: New and Improved Mock GA General Assembly!
Featuring: The Honorable Brian Kemp (R), former state senator and candidate for GA Agriculture Commissioner; a few Young Dems; members of the UGA Green Party
Purpose: To debate and learn more about controversial legislation currently before the Georgia House of Representatives.
Time and Date: THIS Wednesday , 7PM
Place: Historic DEMOSTHENIAN HALL (Yellow building on North Campus, next to UGA Chapel)
My fellow College Republicans,
Do you have any interest in one day serving/working in the state legislature? Would you like to learn more about the hot topics currently being discussed in Georgia's halls of power? If the answer to either of these questions is "yes," make sure you come to this Wednesday's meeting and participate in UGA CR's new and improved mock General Assembly!
Former state senator Brian Kemp, one of the most important figures in the Georgia GOP, will be presiding over the event. To make this a night to remember, the UGA CR Exec Board has decided that this exciting meeting will be held in Demosthenian Hall, one of the most majestic and historic buildings on North Campus. The meeting will start at 7PM sharp. After I announce a few internship opportunities, we'll kick off what promises to be one of the best CR meetings in recent memory.
During the course of mock GA, we will debate a number of controversial pieces of legislation, including: the Voter ID bill, a measure to allow package stores to sell alcohol on Sunday, and a bill that would provide school vouchers to the families of special needs children. If time permits, we will also debate the merits of adding two new members to the Georgia Supreme Court and tax reform proposals. Since members of the UGA Greens and the Young Dems will be attendance, this debate will often resemble an inter-party debate. The debate will be largely extemporaneous and run by parliamentary rules used in the Georgia House. Even if you don't participate in the debate, you will enjoy learning how Georgia's legislature works!
I hope to see you this Wednesday! Please feel free to shoot me an email if you have any questions.
QUICK SUMMARY:
-Informal "Meet and Greet" Reception/ Watching Mr. Bush's speech
-This Wednesday (January 10) 8PM
-SLC room 153
-Light refreshments provided; great opportunity to get reacquainted with UGA CR
Dear College Republicans,
Mark my words (but don't read my lips), Spring 2007 will be one of the best semesters that UGA CR has experienced in years! Over the course of the next few months, our chapter will host a number of entertaining and interactive conservative education events. These fun programs will allow us to explore what it really means to be a Republican and a conservative in today's world.
To kickoff the year, we will be hosting a "meet and greet" reception this Wednesay in SLC room 153 at 8PM. Again, the reception will be held at 8PM (not 7PM as usual).
At this casual reception, you will have the opportunity to meet the members of our wonderful new Executive Board and learn about ways to get more involved in our organization, the Republican Party, and/or the broader conservative movement. If you haven't been to a CR meeting in a while, this would be a great time to get reacquainted with the club.
If you have time, stay after 9PM. That's when we will flip on the TV and watch President Bush present his new Iraq strategy to the nation. We will conclude the event with a short discussion of the speech.
Hope to see you this Wednesday!
Laura Stone, last semester's political director, is the winner of this year's Jack Kingston Award for Outstanding Service and Leadership. Laura led this year's immensely successful "Make 'em See Red" voter registration initiative and organized four high-profile candidate promotion events.
Congratulations, Laura! Thank you for your service to our chapter.
On December 7 (Reading Day), the elected officers will begin the process of interviewing candidates for Executive Director, Political Director, Public Relations Director, and Team Leader Director. The interviews will take place from 12PM- 2PM in Tate Room 143. In order to apply for one of these positions, please contact Chairman David Ballard (dballard@uga.edu) and inform him about your interest. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 9PM.
Unlike this year, all appointed Exec Board officers will serve one-semester terms. At the end of the spring semester, they may submit an application for a position on the Fall 2007 Executive Board.
